From Vision to Reality
To safeguard a collection of rare archives, a space was required—one that not only protected the art but also honored its significance. JWC partnered with Kendall/Heaton Associates, Inc. to renovate the library at the Museum of Fine Arts, Houston, providing a fitting environment to safeguard and display these priceless works. This 3,285-square-foot project was more than a facility upgrade—it was about preserving history while simultaneously elevating the visitor experience.
From custom-built display cases with unique treatments like inert finishes to help protect rare archives to carefully selected flooring, precision lighting, and refined wall treatments, every detail was approached with purpose. The team also incorporated elegant, functional signage to seamlessly tie the design together. This project exemplifies JWC’s ability to merge meticulous craftsmanship with thoughtful design, delivering a space that honors the MFAH’s commitment to preservation and excellence. It’s a reminder of how construction, when done with care and passion, can serve as a bridge between functionality and art.
